| LPGA 2K10 TV Schedule Announced |
The Golf Channel and the LPGA unveiled the event broadcast schedule for 2010 – the first as part of the10-year agreement signed in 2009.12 tournaments scheduled in North America will air on Golf Channel, yet only 9 will have live coverage. Event coverage will consist of 2-3 hours per telecast, with same-night replays scheduled for 10 events. International events will be televised on tape delay and will air on Saturdays and Sundays. In past years, the LPGA has been moved around between TNT, ESPN and ESPN2, getting small broadcast windows and often D-list announcers, while other tournaments also play out on Golf Channel and the various networks. In addition to having a home, the tour will also benefit from network promotions, established announcers and programming that is just beginning to be developed by the Golf Channel. “As we do with all our tour partners, we have worked hard to maximize airtimes and drive ratings for the LPGA Tour,” said Page Thompson, president of Golf Channel. “We are excited to be the exclusive cable partner of the LPGA and look forward to a great 2010 season and beyond.” Mike Whan, LPGA commissioner comments, “We are looking forward to a year of strong coverage on the Golf Channel – both in-telecast and in the news. Showcasing the talent and diverse personalities of our tour players is our goal, and Golf Channel will be the ideal partner with which to realize this goal."
