Officials at the privately held Arizona firm have announced the award-winning, 36-hole Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club now operates under JSH Time LLC. Financial details were not disclosed.
"The new ownership of Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club brings stability and long-term direction for this spectacular facility," said Doc Belitz, vice president of operations for OB Sports Golf Management, which manages the facility. "The new ownership is dedicated to continuing to providing a world-class golf experience at Superstition Mountain."
Superstition Mountain features two Nicklaus Design golf courses, the Prospector and Lost Gold. The Prospector Golf Course, which opened in 1998, was recently honored as one of the "Top 100 Residential Courses" in America by Golfweek for 2009.
The Lost Gold was conceived In 1999, when Nicklaus teamed with son Jack Jr. to produce its design. The course offers generous fairways, slightly smaller greens than the Prospector, and strategically placed bunkers. The Lost Gold Course had been ranked as one of the "Top 10 Private Courses in Arizona" by Desert Golf.
The recently adopted membership plan will continue under new ownership, allowing daily-fee club guest starting times on one course while the second course will remain exclusive for current and new members.
Daily-fee current rates range from $120 to $180, ($90 to $110 for Arizona residents). Full golf memberships are also available with initiation fees starting at $15,000.
